• Virtual learning requires a student to be self-motivated to successfully progress through coursework. We look at applicant records to ensure students are set up for success.Even if you feel your student will not meet the admission requirements, we encourage you to apply. We will review patterns in student records and extenuating circumstances to determine if HVA is a good fit for your family.

Most school districts have a gradebook that allows family and student access to these documents. You can contact your school receptionist or secretary for assistance. If you are having trouble getting access to the required documents, please email HVA@huttoisd.net so we can help you.

You can share any evidence of coursework and mastery your child has completed. Your child may need to also take a placement exam. Please email HVA@huttoisd.net for assistance.

• Hybrid: Students attend a partial day in-person based on their course needs, with the rest of the day asynchronous at home. *Most 6th-9th graders are hybrid students, so they can take fine arts, world language, and P.E. courses in person.
• Full-Time: Students work asynchronously all day away from campus. 

• Students are required to regularly interact with their course instructor throughout the course for assistance with instruction and course work evaluation. 

• HVA students are assigned a mentor teacher in addition to their regular course content instructors. HVA students will have required scheduled meetings with their mentor teacher. Mentor teachers give students the tools they need to build self-direction and self-advocacy.

• Each student will need to meet with their mentor teacher each day for at least the initial four weeks of the semester. These initial daily meetings will help students learn how to properly use Canvas, Edgenuity, Email, and Google Calendar. Meetings will also help students build a daily routine and learn how to ask for help when needed. After the first four weeks, students may be able to meet with their mentor teacher less frequently depending on where the fall in the HVA Levels System.
